Genoa Road Bridge Closure

31 Jan 2014
The Genoa Road Bridge carrying traffic over the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in Belvidere is scheduled to close beginning the week of February 3 for demolition and reconstruction to make way for the I-90 Rebuilding and Widening Project. The bridge is scheduled to reopen by late spring.
Full closure of the bridge is necessary because the bridge is too narrow to accommodate traffic while completing the work. The bridge, which was originally built in the 1950s, will be reconstructed to accommodate the new, wider I-90 roadway. Up to 4,100 vehicles use this stretch of local roadway daily.
