Belvidere’s school-based food pantry now has $5,000 in funding thanks to the General Mills Foundation, which distributed the grant on behalf of the Belvidere Community Action Council.
The Community Cupboard serves Belvidere School District #100 students and families and its director saidthe grant came at a great time.
“With the holidays around the corner and students eating more meals at home, the timing of the grant is perfect,” Shannon Hanson said.
The pantry is housed in a classroom in the school district and is open every Thursday, including breaks and summer months, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.district100.com.
