Entrepreneurship Education in Illinois' Rural High Schools
Here's a quick reminder about next week's webinar on Entrepreneurship Education. University of Illinois Extension, in collaboration with Rural Partners, the voice for rural Illinois, is pleased to offer this webinar, which will highlight two models of high-school-based entrepreneurship education in Illinois and examine the path communities might follow to offer their own versions of entrepreneurship education, in light of its importance as a foundational element in entrepreneurial ecosystems in rural Illinois.
About the Speakers:
The program’s presenters have extensive first-hand experience in delivering and/or developing these educational programs in Illinois:
Since 2012, LeAndra Hartman has been the facilitator for the Whiteside Area Career Center’s “Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities,” or “CEO,” program, a curriculum available through the Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship, which offers high-school juniors and seniors “real-life learning experiences with the opportunity to take risks, manage the results, and learn from the outcomes.” Le holds a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Aaron Sitze worked for years as a high-school teacher in northwestern Illinois and created a unique “Social Entrepreneurship” curriculum, in which students designed, launched, and operated a ‘for-benefit’ social enterprise. The program was designed to help these students consider whether the best place to realize their individual entrepreneurial vision might not be New York City or Silicon Valley, but rather right in their own hometowns and regions. Aaron also holds a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction.
