Earlier this year, the Governor and General Assembly passed a major energy reform bill that made numerous changes impacting manufacturers. One change eliminated the Energy Efficiency exemption for large users (10MW or more). While these companies are not automatically exempt from EE, these companies can apply for an opt out but the deadline is December 31, 2021. There is information available at the Illinois Commerce Commission website here.
To help educate companies, the IMA and ComEd are hosting three office hour sessions (meeting invites linked below) before the end of the year to answer questions related to the >10 MW private-sector Opt Out process and subsequent documentation as required by Public Act 102-0662. The recent change in the Illinois Energy Law allows customers, with demand levels greater than 10MW to opt-out of the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program if they meet certain requirements.
